Organized in 1986, area leaders were convinced that a new approach was required to meet the competition for new jobs...a full-time professional program to attract new industries and encourage the expansion of existing industry.
The ultimate purpose of Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation(HCEDC) is to benefit the citizens of Hempstead County with broad-based economic development in all sectors. All segments of the economy significantly benefit when good base jobs in manufacturing, agri-business, and tourism are created.
Since 1986, the HCEDC has worked with development allies to create over 2,100 net new manufacturing jobs in the Hope area. The Corporation has been recognized by Site Selection magazine as one of the top rural economic development organizations in the United States.
Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation is dedicated to responsible economic development that:

improves the quality of life for all area citizens.
Progressive and dynamic regional leaders invest in the non-profit Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation to insure jobs growth and economic improvement in southwest Arkansas. HCEDC has been a member of the Texarkana Regional Initiative, which is a voluntary association of economic development professionals in the area of Southwest Arkansas, Northeast Texas, and Northwest Louisiana, since October of 2006.
